CALL TO ACTION
Hello Neighbors,

The CACC has announced their last meeting, set for the morning of June 9. This will be held in Olympia with options to attend in person or online.

Please see the CACC email below for info on location as well as Zoom Registration and TVW links.
There will be a short public comments section so sign up in advance (Zoom) or at the start of the meeting (in person) and have your brief comments ready to allow others to be able to participate. You can be direct but please be respectful in your participation - our goal is to remind them that we are engaged in the process.

Note that the address has been corrected in a subsequent email:

"The final meeting of the Commercial Aviation Coordinating Commission will be at the South Puget Sound Community College Lacey Campus: 4220 6th Ave SE, Lacey, 98503, Building 1.
The previous email had the Olympia Campus address which was incorrect. We apologize for any confusion."

If you wish to provide public comment, please note the following:
-
Comment accepted prior to the meeting via email: Due to the limited amount of time available for public comment and the number of people we expect who will want to share, please consider emailing your comments to the Commission at cacc@wsdot.wa.gov. Sharing your comments in advance gives Commission members time to review and consider them before the meeting.
-
Public comment allowed in person and online: There are 20 minutes set aside on the agenda for public comment. We will call on people online and in person to comment. Each commenter will be allowed no more than two minutes to provide input.

Legislative update

Governor Jay Inslee signed Engrossed Substitute House Bill 1791 on May 15 establishing a new Commercial Aviation Work Group (CAWG). However, he vetoed sections 3, 5, 7, and 8 of the bill.
Vetoed sections that did not become law include:
-
Section 3: CAWG task list
-
Section 5: Funding
-
Section 7: Repeal of the statutes that created the CACC
-
Section 8: Placed the CAWG into immediate effect

Watch a video recording of the signing on TVW starting 16 minutes and 21 seconds into the recording.

The CACC’s last meeting will focus on how to ensure that the work of the CACC provides a solid foundation and baseline of information to be used by the follow-on committee established by ESHB 1791. The CACC expects to submit their final report to Governor Inslee and the Legislature by the end of June.
